Deputy Head of Care Tŷ Gobaith
I first visited Hope House on a placement while completing my Registered Children’s Nurse training, and I joined Tŷ Gobaith as soon as it opened in 2004. I have been here ever since and have progressed to Deputy Head of Care.
Tŷ Gobaith is a wonderful place to work that not only offers a competitive employment package, but also a supportive ethos where empowering people to do what they love is at the forefront of how we deliver care.
We invest heavily in clinical training for our nursing staff, with many of our team taking up the opportunity to complete post-graduate modules in paediatric palliative care. Our high staffing ratios ensure that we are able to give each family the time and care that they deserve.
We are also firmly rooted in our community and can offer Welsh-speaking families services in their first language, which increases their comfort.

Hospice Sister
From the moment I walked through the doors of Hope House on a student placement, I knew I wanted to work here. I started as a nurse and have progressed to the Hospice Sister role.
Hope House Children’s Hospices is an extremely well run organisation where learning is encouraged and staff are given the time to keep up with continuous professional development as well as attend training courses to learn or develop new skills.
There is a special bond in the care team - even in the most difficult of times we are here to support each other, we share the good times and the sad. There are even initiatives such as free confidential counselling for staff should they need it.
Together we strive to provide the gold standard of care. Even after 25 years I still feel the same drive and passion for my work as when I began.

Retail Hub Manager
I joined Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith after a 12 year career with a supermarket chain and I’m very proud to manage a shop for the hospices.
I began as a part-time assistant manager in 2017, became a full-time shop manager in 2020 and more recently I have been promoted to senior hub manager for Shropshire and Powys. Our retail operation has really grown and we are creating regional hubs in larger premises to hold all of our stock.
All our experienced managers and assistant managers come from a variety of backgrounds, but we are all driven by wanting to make sure that our shops can generate a large percentage of the funds that the hospices need each year to provide care and support to local children and families. With new stores opening, now is a great chance to join us!

After spending my early career in banking sector management, I found myself with a real yearning to do something different so I took the chance to become an area fundraiser for Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith covering maternity for nine months. I was hooked and I’ve never looked back.
I am now the charity’s Director of Finance and Transformation and really enjoy using my business background to benefit the children and families who need us. Creating the right environment for our shop and office-based staff to do the same is something in which I take great pride.
I thrive on variety and enjoy spending time in the hospices and going out into the community as much as I can. Engaging with families, volunteers, and supporters gives a great appreciation of why we are here and what it takes to be successful. I wouldn’t change a minute of my career so far with Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith.
